GLOCK’s Zaranza gives a glittering first ‘long distance’ performance

“For the first time in his life, GLOCK’s Zaranza has completed a long distance flight and really performed well. I’m proud of him.” That was GLOCK rider Gerco Schröder’s contented summary, just before setting off with the twelve-year-old KWPN stallion on the return journey from the CSI5* Longines Masters in Hong Kong.

Only a selected cadre of show-jumping riders had been invited to the distinguished event in the far eastern metropolis of Hong Kong, including the reigning world and European champion. In the opening competition over 1.50 m On Friday, Gerco and Karandasj x Heartbreaker offspring ‘Zaranza’ just missed placing. In the world ranking jumping competition over 1.45 m on Saturday, the duo proved their strength with eleventh place and also made good headway into the ranks of distinction at the Grand Prix (1.60 m) on Sunday.
