Great success for Gerco Schröder in Rome

The FEI Nations Cup Jumping in Rome was the first team-appearance for Gerco Schröder and GLOCK’s Cognac Champblanc in the current season. And this kick-off couldn’t have gone better! As part of the Dutch team, Gerco took on the competition together with Jeroen Dubbeldam, Jur Vrieling and Marc Houtzager at the renowned CSIO5*-NC Rome at the Piazza di Siena in front of packed audiences. The course over 1.60 m required skill, concentration and perfect teamwork from riders and horses, in both of its rounds. Gerco and GLOCK’s Cognac Champblanc delilvered a perfect clear round and finished the second round with just one lapsse of concentration. With this performance, Gerco and the 14-year-old Holsteiner grey horse, descended from Clearway, helped the Oranje Team to establish second place in this difficult Nations Cup.

However, not only “Cognac”, but also GLOCK’s Lausejunge presented himself to be in peak form. The ten-year-old Westphalian gelding had already jumped to an easy clear round over 1.45 m on Saturday. At the Grand Prix (1.60 m) on Sunday, Gerco and the bay, bred from Ludwigs As, were able to raise their game and secured sixth place after a flawless basic round and a brilliantly ridden jump-off. Thus, the GLOCK duo has met both the qualification criteria for the European Championships in Gothenburg and the upcoming World Equestrian games in Tryon 2018.
