Full points for ‘Mr Speed’, Emanuele Gaudiano

Getting as many points in as fast a time as possible: that was the aim for the 43 competitors in the CSI3* 1.40 m accumulator with joker. In this jumping competition, points are awarded for every obstacle cleared. The number of points corresponds to the number of the jump. To make the competition more exciting, there is a joker jump as an alternative to the last obstacle. The joker carries double points but if it is knocked down, they are deducted.

Only eight riders succeeded in clearing all ten jumps including the joker without any knockdowns. Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) pulled off an absolutely fabulous round on his only eight-year-old stallion Caspar 232. An incredible time of 46.91 seconds and the maximum of 65 points gave him victory.

European and World Championship rider Cameron Hanley (IRL) piloted his 13-year-old son of Cumano Newton du Haut Bois, an excellent jumper, into runner-up spot in 48.43 seconds while third place went to the best lady. That was Laura Renwick (GBR) on Bintang II, also only eight years old, in a time of 48.64 seconds.

Best Austrian with a great time (54.36 seconds) and maximum points was Styrian Simon Johann Zuchi in fifth on Larom von Pachern, a stallion he bred himself. Hugo Simon (Styria) guided his Cassini II daughter Chateau B into seventh and therefore also into the placings.
