Home game at CHIO Rotterdam

For Dutch equestrian sport fans, CHIO Rotterdam is THE highlight of every year. The best show jumping and dressage riders in the world converge on the famous port city in order to decide one stage of their respective Nations Cup Series. Among the regulars here are GLOCK Riders Gerco Schröder, Hans Peter Minderhoud and Edward Gal. Last weekend too (22-25/06/2017), the three “Orangemen” were nominated by their chefs d’équipe for the national teams and succeeded in bringing several top results home.

Gerco Schröder had brought GLOCK’s Lausejunge and GLOCK’s Cognac Champblanc along to Rotterdam. GLOCK’s Lausejunge, ten-year-old son of Cornet Obolensky, achieved eighth place following a penalty-free round in the competition over 1.50 m. GLOCK’s Cognac Champblanc was entered for the Nations Cup. Together with his team colleagues, Harrie Smolders, Jur Vrieling and Marc Houtzager, Gerco gave it everything with “Cognac” in the Nations Cup in two rounds over 1.60 m and ultimately celebrated fifth place with his team.

Team GLOCK was also represented in the Nations Cup for dressage riders. Whilst Hans Peter on GLOCK’s Johnson TN (73.400 %) and Edward with GLOCK’s Voice (73.020 %), together with Diederik van Silfhout and Madeleine Witte-Vrees, were in second place after the first competition round, a ride in the final was not to be. Having lost one shoe, Madeleine Witte-Vrees’ horse could not be taken to the start and thus, in line with a new rule, the Netherlands were excluded from the nations ranking. Notwithstanding this disappointment, the two GLOCK Riders fought on in the individual rankings - and enjoyed success.

In the Grand Prix Special, Edward and GLOCK’s Voice, bred from De Niro, took victory with 75.440 % whilst, in the musical freestyle, Hans Peter and mighty GLOCK’s Johnson TN took second place with 78.890 %. Also to be celebrated were another victory and a second place for Edward and GLOCK’s Zonik. This tremendously talented stallion put on a magnificent show in the CDI3* Grand Prix (75.440 %) and Grand Prix Freestyle (77.450 %) competitions, once gain drawing the attention of the world of international equestrian sport.
