There was excitement right up to the last second as the decision regarding the winner of today’s CDI4* Grand Prix Special was being reached. Spectators and contestants alike gazed spellbound at the big screen in the arena of the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER, waiting to see the confirmed results, because the winner of the CDI4* opening test, Claudia Fassaert (BEL) and her
Donnerfee were the last contestants to enter the arena, hard on the heels of the leader till that point, Matthias Kempkes (GER). But ultimately the lady from Belgium fell just short of victory. With their solid test performance, Kempkes and his twelve-year-old Riccoletto, son of Rivero II, achieved 70.529 %, thereby leaving Claudia Fassaert and Donnerfee marginally behind them (70.118 %). "This sensational victory is an advance birthday present for my father, who will be 80 tomorrow!", was Kempkes’ delighted comment in his victory interview.
Following their third place on Thursday, Stephan Köberle (GER) and his 13-year-old Darjeeling were now standing once again in overall third place in the CDI4* Grand Prix Special.
Best Austrian pairing Two To Tango and Alpenspan team rider Peter Gmoser (AUT/B) demonstrated their routine once again and scored 65.882 % for sixth place. The two Styrians, Heimo Kendlbacher with Söhnlein Brilliant MJ (60.491 %) and Martin Hauptmann with Frechdachs H (58.961 %), achieved eleventh and twelfth places.
