Unbeatable Lara Whiteway in the GLOCK’s 2* Tour

There were some fast and furious rides for all to see today in the GLOCK’s 2* Tour, marking the start of day three of International Show Jumping at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria. The test over 1.40 m was in the speed and handiness category, meaning that knock-downs did not attract penalty points but rather were converted into penalty seconds. Extended cantering stretches encouraged the riders to push, accompanied by a choice of alternative lines with tight turns practically everywhere around the course.

As the last to start, Lara Whiteway (GBR) had the opportunity to watch her 15 competitors really closely. It paid off, because the British rider rode her 13-year-old Bellagio II, son of Contender, to the finish with the best time by a clear margin, 68.10 seconds. As a result, the leader till that point, Denis Nielsen (GER), in the saddle on High Voltage SB, ultimately conceded a place and came second with a time of 70.47 seconds. Taking third place was yesterday’s winner, Angelica Augustsson (SWE), who piloted her Selle Français mare Typie du Tillard round the course in 71.16 seconds. For Austria, Katharina Rhomberg (V) and Marianne Schindele (K) rode to seventh and twelfth places respectively.
