Peder Fredricson (SWE) is the Gaston Glock’s Champion

On this course today for the Gaston Glock’s Championat at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria, this was the first time during the International Show Jumping weekend that points were at stake in the Longines World Rankings for show jumping riders. Registered to start in the competition over 1.50 m in two rounds were 41 participants. Anyone riding for the lion’s share of the prize money totalling 93,000 euros would have to give their all, both in the basic round and the shortened second round. For an indication of the quality of the field of competitors at the GHPC, one only needs to check the list of results. No fewer than 15 duos cleared the 13 obstacles and 16 jumps penalty-free in the first round. But because only the fastest twelve then passed to the deciding round, unfortunately Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER), Romain Duguet (SUI) and Daniel Deusser (GER) then had to spectate.

In the second round, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA), as first starter in the saddle on ten-year-old Celena VDL, daughter of Mr. Blue, set off pretty smartly and set the initial benchmark with a penalty-free 45.95 seconds. Ultimately this result was enough for third place. Achieving a faster round for one was Marcus Ehning (GER), in the saddle on BWP gelding Gin Chin van het Lindenhof (44.58), who was pleased to accept the trophy for second place in the award ceremony. But the fastest penalty-free round came from Peder Fredricson (SWE). The silver-medal-winner of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro had saddled up H&M All In and evidently gone for the right horse.

This eleven-year-old offspring of Kashmir van Schuttershof was also the reliable partner of the world’s current number 21 back in Rio. Today once again he demonstrated his skills at the Gaston Glock’s Championat: “It already felt right with All In during the first round, and everything worked out well for us in the second round too. I feel very comfortable here. It’s an excellent tournament with great sports and no-one stays hungry here either, that’s for sure. Now I’m very pleased, most of all with my horse. He had a six-month break after Rio and is fully back now. On Sunday in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix, I will once more give everything and then maybe we’ll see each other again here!”, this the statement of the likeable winner.
