CSI3* opening win for Werner Muff

In the CSI3* 1.40 m opener, 87 professional riders were out to see who was in form today. Of the twenty that remained fault free, it was a famous Swiss show jumper who posted the winning round in the indoor arena at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER.

Werner Muff, who has already taken part in Olympic Games, World and European Championships, attacked right from the start and pulled off a stunning performance with risky turns. 55.98 seconds: that was good enough to win the CSI3* opener!

Irishman Bertram Allen is only 17 years old, but the Pony and Junior European Champion took part in the Nations Cup with the Irish team in 2013, which made him the youngest competitor in the Cup’s history. Today, aboard ten-year-old Solitair daughter Zenzation, he cleared the obstacles effortlessly to fill runner-up spot (56.36). Bertram thus managed to edge team silver medallist at the London 2012 Olympics, Jur Vrieling, from the Netherlands on Flash Dance V. Kalevallei into third place.

Alpenspan Team and GLOCK rider Dieter Köfler also did well here. Having produced fast clear rounds both with 11-year-old gelding Askaban and with 10-year-old Numero Uno son GLOCK’s Zyrano, the Carinthian proved to be the best Austrian, placing seventh and tenth. In this CSI3* opener, another six Austrians - Markus Saurugg (Styria) on Texas I (12th), GLOCK rider Robert Puck (Carinthia) on GLOCK’s Alato SR (15th), Alpenspan Team rider Gerfried Puck on Balou Blom (16th), Hugo Simon (Salzburg) on Chateau B (17th) and Freddy 7 (20th), Nina Brand (Lower Austria) on Calme P (18th) and Simon Johann Zuchi (Styria) on Laromm von Pachern (19th) - secured nine placings.
