Fantastic World Cup success again for GLOCK rider Edward Gal

It was World Cup weekend in Switzerland and the Netherlands from 23 to 26 January 2014. The international show jumping elite was vying to win the leg at the CSI5*-W in Zurich, while the world’s best dressage riders were competing at the CDI5*-W in Amsterdam.

Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage
Here the fifth round of the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ was being held and two GLOCK riders, Edward Gal and Hans Peter Minderhoud, had also entered. GLOCK rider Edward Gal’s performance with GLOCK’s Undercover was sensational. In the Grand Prix the Ferro son concentrated well, responded to the aids and much to the local audience’s delight danced his way to a new best Grand Prix score of 81.860% and runner-up spot behind British Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro. GLOCK rider Hans Peter Minderhoud and GLOCK’s Romanov however received widely varying scores from the panel of judges. Two judges placed them fifth, one fourth and another two put them in seventh position. In the end they finished sixth with a score of 73.440%.

On Saturday Edward Gal and GLOCK’s Undercover did brilliantly with a fabulous freestyle. The Dutchman rode so skilfully that the 12-year-old Ferro son appeared relaxed yet focused and concentrating intently. As the two seem to become more of a whole every time, their amazing performance was rewarded with 85.124% and second place! With 51 points they are now also second in the current standings of the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™, where the final will be held in Lyon (FRA) in April 2014.

Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping
An important World Cup event was also on the show jumping calendar for GLOCK rider Robert Puck. The Mercedes CSI in Zurich was the venue for the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping from 24 to 26 January. Following a slip, Robert Puck and GLOCK’s Ambelina JB only just missed the placings in the 1.55 m Longines Grand Prix on Friday. The GLOCK pair however placed in the difficult two-phase 1.50 m jumping on Saturday, finishing ninth amongst the international leaders. In the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping GLOCK’s Zaranza jumped superbly but Robert Puck lacked that last little bit of luck to go through to the jump-off (21st).
