Max Kühner shows GLOCK Perfection in Salzburg

Full house, exciting atmosphere and a great winner. Gaston Glock’s Championat Salzburg at the Pappas Amadeus Horse Indoors was a huge success today with every last seat taken in the Salzburg Arena.

It was a new challenge for the riders in the Salzburg Arena on Saturday evening. None of the obstacles were like those on previous days of the Pappas Amadeus Horse Indoors – and none will be like them again. A whole new world appeared as if by magic: the world of GLOCK Perfection. The complete GLOCK course with exclusive jumps and specially created GLOCK floral displays was brought from Treffen, the ring was decorated with the GLOCK logo and at the victory ceremony there was even music, specially composed by Joost Peters, GLOCK trophies, GLOCK rosettes, a GLOCK winner’s rug and GLOCK gifts for those placed. A magical atmosphere just for a short time, for Gaston Glock’s Championat Salzburg.

Competing here in the demanding world ranking competition at the Salzburg Arena for €60,000 prize money were 51 top international riders – and they were not prepared to give it away. After an exciting first round, eleven including four Austrians made it through to the jump-off: show jumping legend Thomas Frühmann (Vienna) on The Sixth Sense, Julia Kayser (Tyrol) on Sterrehof’s Ushi, Christian Juza (Salzburg) on Never des Etisses and talented young Stefanie Bistan (Lower Austria) on Bogegaardens Apollonia.

In the jump-off, what was needed was full speed, tight turns and daring to take risks. It was the German Max Kühner, twice Bavarian Champion with an international reputation, who managed all three. The Bavarian on his skilfully jumping ten-year-old gelding Clintop pulled off an ideal jump-off to finish up the deserving winner of Gaston Glock’s Championat Salzburg. There were only three clear rounds in the jump-off. The second put Belgian Gregory Wathelet with his Papillon Z (40.08) in second and the third Cassio Rivetti (UKR) on Niack de l’Abbaye (40.59) in third place.

It was also an excellent event for the Austrians with fifth for Alpenspan team rider Thomas Frühmann, eighth for Julia Kayser (Tyrol), ninth for Christian Juza (Salzburg) and sensational tenth place for Fixkraft team and MAGNA RACINO rider Stefanie Bistan (Lower Austria).
