Those were the Dutch Championships for Hans Peter & Invictus
The Dutch Championships in Ermelo are a highlight in the tournament calendar every year. This year, GLOCK rider Hans Peter Minderhoud went to the start with Invictus, the ten-year old son of Jack Sparrow. This impressive KWPN-stallion was so nervous in the Grand Prix of the Championships that Hans Peter decided to give up. Nevertheless, in order to familiarize Invictus with the atmosphere so that he could gain experience, the two went to the start the next day in the Roelofsen Horse Truck Big Tour Small Final. Exactly the right decision; with 72.163%, strong-moving Invictus won the competition.
Hans Peter Minderhoud summed up the weekend: “In our sport, we work with horses that, just like us, sometimes have good days and sometimes have bad days or can’t cope with certain situations and impressions. For Jack it was the first national championships. I think he felt the general excitement and was incredibly excited himself. It was very important that we shouldn’t go back home, so he could have a great experience in the small final and show his full potential. Although we had some mistakes, for me it was a very conciliatory ending after the start with Jack.”
