World Championship bronze for GLOCK’s Massimo
This weekend saw another highlight of the 2024 season: The World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, the Netherlands. Two GLOCK stallions qualified for the championships: GLOCK’s Pablo Picasso contested the World Championships for four-year-olds under GLOCK Rider-Trainer Rubén Mengual Reig, while GLOCK Rider Hans Peter Minderhoud presented GLOCK’s Massimo in the seven-year-old category for dressage horses.
Our four-year-old premium stallion GLOCK’s Pablo Picasso (GLOCK’s Taminiau x Florencio I) presented himself in impressive form in Ermelo. In the first qualifier, he placed ninth under Ruben with 80.800%, thus directly securing a ticket for the final. In the final test for four-year-old dressage horses, the duo finally placed 15th and were rewarded with a score of 77.800%. “The big arena was exciting for both of them, you could see that in the final. The two youngsters certainly did a great job. Pablo Picasso is so talented and wants to please, it’s really a pleasure,” said delighted trainer Hans Peter Minderhoud.
Hans Peter himself rode for the World Championship title for seven-year-old dressage horses. Together with GLOCK’s Massimo (GLOCK’s Toto Jr. x Bretton Woods), he also competed with this elegant stallion in 2023 and placed 15th in the final. This year, the duo already achieved a top round in qualifying. The panel of judges awarded 80.675%, with the quality of the KWPN stallion scoring 87.600% and his technical performance 73.750%. In the final too, Hans Peter and GLOCK’s Massimo sensationally cracked the 80% mark. The basic gaits were rated 8.8 for trot, 9.3 for walk and 9.0 for canter.
They were the third best duo in the field and won the bronze medal for the Royal Warmblood Breeding of the Netherlands.
GLOCK stallions also played an important role in the pedigrees of the world’s most successful young horses. GLOCK’s Toto Jr. had an amazing seven offspring at the start, GLOCK’s Johnson provided one participant and is damsire of three starters. There was also one offspring each from GLOCK’s Taminiau, GLOCK’s Zonik and GLOCK’s Total US. The most successful sire was GLOCK’s Romanov: three participants had him as their sire, one as their damsire. In addition, the newly crowned and highly expressive World Champion of five-year-old dressage horses is descended from him: Red Viper.
We congratulate all the winners and runners-up and are delighted with the many successful offspring of our GLOCK stallions!
