Fantastic Silver Tour final with GLOCK rider Gerfried Puck on top

“Words fail me. It’s such an absolutely amazing feeling to win here. My horse did a perfect job and I want to thank the Glocks very much for giving me such incredible support.” With tears in his eyes, Alpenspan team member and GLOCK rider Gerfried Puck (AUT/Styria) could hardly control his emotions following his great win in the Silver Tour final at 1.45 m level.

This competition with 67 pairs that counts for the FEI world rankings went over two phases for the first time this weekend. Whoever had high hopes of making it to the top first had to clear jumps one to seven - and then go flat out with no holding back whatsoever! From obstacle number eight on, the riders upped the speed, opting for increasingly riskier lines with no one giving anything away.

Gerfried Puck had to fear for his lead for a long time. He had produced his sensational round (31.88) before the break with a good half of the riders still to go. Luckily, no one could steal it away from him and his nimble GLOCK's Wibo B. Although placed many times this weekend, not even Paul Estermann (SUI) on his 12-year old Naiade d’Auvers sired by Cumano could manage to get round the turns quite as quickly as Puck and wound up in second spot at 31.98 seconds.

Spurred on after his win in the Bronze Tour, young Martin Fuchs who also competes for Switzerland put in another top performance but did not risk everything with his Con Dios III and ranked third in the end.

Stefan Eder (Salzburg) on Axel 7, Julia Kayser (Tyrol) on Sterrehof's Cayetano Z, national hero Hugo Simon (Styria) on C.T. and GLOCK rider Markus Stock (Carinthia) on Quick Step 6 also pulled off good rounds, enabling them all to take home a GLOCK placing ribbon.
