Full house with GLOCK rider Hans Peter Minderhoud

GLOCK rider Hans Peter Minderhoud had a more than attentive audience attending his course in Ermelo, the Netherlands, at the weekend. Around a thousand interested people had come, some from far afield, to learn more about training young dressage horses.

The exercises for those taking part were for youthful novices up to older horses being introduced to Grand Prix movements under the supervision of trainer Hans Peter Minderhoud.

Then the tables were turned and the GLOCK rider mounted the lively horse, GLOCK’s Ziesto, while GLOCK trainer Nicole Werner took his place teaching. Unlike the rider’s other horses, the nine-year-old KWPN stallion that Hans Peter Minderhoud and Nicole Werner have only recently taken under their wing is currently learning the piaffe from a trot and not – as otherwise usually the case – from a walk.

The good-looking stallion impressed the spectators with the spring in his basic gaits, his tremendous talent for the standard arena and harmonious collaboration with his rider Hans Peter Minderhoud.
