GLOCK’s 2* Tour kick-off victory for Patricia Segura

Today, Friday (14/06/2019), at 9am it was with the GLOCK’s 2* Tour over 1.35 m that Austria’s sole 5-star show jumping tournament, three days of Horses & Stars at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER Austria, began. Sixty-six of the world’s best riders from 18 nations have made the journey to Carinthia to enjoy the unique flair and - for horses, riders and grooms – those perfect conditions.

Twenty-nine rider-horse duos had entered to start in this CSI2* opening competition and ultimately it was 42-year-old Patricia Segura who emerged as the winner. In the saddle on her ten-year-old Selle Francaise mare Valseuse de Terlong, the Spanish rider won on her very first appearance at GHPC Austria with a penalty-free round in a rapid 58.10 seconds. “I’m very pleased with this victory and will give my all on Sunday to be successful in the Grand Prix too” said the beaming and likeable winner.

In second place were Lily Attwood and her Belgian gelding Karibou Horta for Great Britain. Also fast and penalty-free were Catherine Pasmore and Hiteck, daughter of Heartbeat. Zero penalties in 61 seconds meant third place for the duo from the USA.

Altogether 13 duos remained penalty-free, among them 21-year-old Josefina Goess-Saurau (B) and her 12-year-old Mine That Bird, daughter of Carthino Z, who took seventh place (0/67.87) as best Austrian duo.

Also achieving placings without knockdowns for Austria were Bianca Babanitz (B) and Game Dk Z (9th place | 0/69.23) and Romana Hartl (OÖ) on Cuitero (11th place | 0/72.72).
