GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final win for Martin Fuchs and Karel VDB

Twenty-seven highly talented seven and eight-year-old show jumping horses, with famous fathers and the best mothers, showed their qualities on the course of the GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final.

Tasked with jumping 13 obstacles with heights of up to 1.40 or 1.45 metres and stretching over 500 metres, these youngster horses had a demanding basic round ahead of them and their experienced riders. According to the rules, the best 12 duos could then qualify for the deciding, second round. In the final, the starting order was then the reverse of their placing order.

Given that three-times GLOCK’s Grand Prix winner Martin Fuchs had already scored victory in yesterday’s GLOCK’s Youngster Tour with his eight-year-old Karel VDB, son of Udarco and blessed with enormous basic speed, there was no doubting his potential to win today. The 25-year-old Swiss rider piloted his top, Belgian-bred youngster through the second round in an unbeatable 41.79 seconds and collected his second GLOCK winner’s trophy at this International Show Jumping tournament at the GHPC Austria.

“I knew my horse was in good form and had mastery of the height. So of course I hoped that, barring mistakes or bad riding on my part, we could be in front again.” Said the likeable winner Martin Fuchs with a grin.

Lining up in second place (0/43.60) and also representing Switzerland were the eight-year-old mare Judika Km and Alain Jufer. This duo was around 1.7 seconds faster than Willem Greve (NED) with his eight-year-old KWPN stallion Faro in third place.

With ninth place in this GLOCK’s Youngster Tour Final, Mevisto-rider Roland Englbrecht (OÖ), in the saddle on his seven-year-old chestnut gelding Calippo 8, secured a top placing for Austria (4/53.22).
