The stuff that winners are made of: Simone Wettstein & ClipMyHorse Cash and Go

It was her night, and those who watched the late-night award ceremony almost felt as if they had also conquered the high obstacles of Adi Appe's difficult course. Simone Wettstein and ClipMyHorse Cash and Go didn't just leave the high-calibre competition behind, but also secured one of the start tickets for the Championship on Sunday with their amazing victory. The riders ranked at second and third place – Vladimir Tuganov (RUS) on Carvin and Björn Nagel (UKR) on Quick Diamond – are also guaranteed places in the Championship.

In total, 74 riders competed for one of the much-coveted starting places, with 16 succeeding in completing a faultless round. However, only 24 of them are guaranteed places in Sunday's competition, with two of them starting for Austria: Styrian rider Hugo Simon came in sixth with his effortless clear round on Ukinda and Lower Austrian Christian Schranz made it to 14th place on Quartz van den Nieuwmolen. Two hot tips for the Austrian fans – and there will be more opportunities for qualifying at tomorrow's Grand Prix.
