Youngster Tour: Austria wins again!

Markus Saurugg charged round the course at an incredible pace on his Zita 94 to win the Youngster Tour for six and seven-year-old horses, giving Austria the second victory in the second event.

“She makes it really easy for me,” he beamed afterwards during the interview commending his six-year-old out of Stakkato on her inherent speed. The Styrian clocked up an unbelievable time of 50.80 seconds today with his Holstein-bred mare, leaving Sweden’s Erika Lickhammer with her seven-year-old Bellinda out of Namelus R more than three seconds behind (53.70).

Third place went to Antonia Schnabel (GER) also riding a seven-year-old, Querry sired by Quattro B. Other Austrian placings included Anton Martin Bauer (fifth) on Cat Ballou (by Cassini II), Julia Bieler (sixth) on Lagraferno (by Lapolo), Gerfried Puck (eigth) on GLOCK's Chamonix (by Castillo) and Siegfried Schlemmer (tenth and eleventh) who rode both Romy S (by Santander) and Swiss Nirvano (by Nintender) - beide onder Siegfried Schlemmer (plaatsen 10 en 11).
