On the way to the 2012 Olympics – arriving in Naunton and who is Frits?
"He was like a pirate," says groom Vanessa grinning from ear to ear when the ferry docks in Dover today. What she meant was that GLOCK's Undercover proved seaworthy right on the first boat trip of his life! Wonderful weather and calm water will of course have helped and 90 minutes on the "high seas" is not much to put up with, but it is reassuring finally to be back on land and the remaining journey to Naunton and Lavender Hill Stud run by eventer Eddy Stibbe goes off without a hitch.
"The stables here are truly amazing. Frits has already moved into his stall, which he likes because it is huge," says the team delighted with the fantastic facilities. Frits? Yes, Frits. That is GLOCK's Undercover's nickname. If you ask why, you get the same answer from everyone: "It suits him. He is simply Frits. Good-natured, affectionate, easy to handle, adaptable and when you get used to that, he wants to call the shots again. Frits to a T!"
Frits aka GLOCK's Undercover in the meantime is going for a walk at a leisurely pace. Some hay is still hanging out of his mouth and his face is relaxed. He feels at ease.
Tomorrow he will be reunited with Edward, as the Dutchman left for the airport together with trainer Nicole Werner at six in the morning. At 8:30am the whole Dutch team is flying to London and then there will also be TLC from Edward again for his four-legged friend.
To find out how the flight and his reunion with Frits went for Edward, what mascot he took with him, how he prepares shortly before the competition, what rituals he has and what GLOCK's Undercover alias Frits is like, read the next London Olympic GHPC News.
