Tournament report Saturday 23 June 2012

Saturday started well for Carinthia

The third day of competition brought the region’s third morning victory in the GHPC Amateur Tour. This time Franziska Binder raced to first place in L jumping, starting Saturday off perfectly in the eyes of the local audience. Barbara Belousek of Styria risked everything on her way to the M victory, while the final of the young horse competition in the jump-off went to Upper Austria and Iris Murray’s Qui Doo. In the S** jump-off, the toughest jump-off of the day, the masterful Stefan Eder from Salzburg was simply unbeatable. Eder was the well-deserved victor, with more than 10 seconds’ advantage.

Stefan Eder of Styria dashes to S** jump-off victory at high speed

The S** competition designed by course manager Adi Appe was seriously challenging: apart from young talent Sabrina Pollhammer of Upper Austria, only the established riders made it into the jump-off –nine competitors in total. The talented Upper Austrian, riding Juventa, a daughter of Lux Ass, then nearly managed to outperform the pros in the decisive round. After Gerfried Pucks, riding 11th and Bleeker (3rd place), scored the fastest time in the jump-off with one knockdown, the talented Upper Austrian went for a calm final round and managed to finish in 2nd place. But victory just could not be wrested away from masterful Stefan Eder and his congenial young mare Concordija. With more than 10 seconds’ advantage on second place, the rider from the Fixkraft team celebrated a well-earned win in this S** competition.

Qui Doo at its best! Iris Murray of Upper Austria wins the final of the young horse competitions

The final of the young horse competition for six- and seven-year-old horses was decided in the jump-off, for which just three horses were able to qualify with faultless initial rounds. Gerald Beck on Capillon (offspring of Caitano) was a bit unlucky in the decisive round: Capillon was the only six-year old who made the cut for the jump-off, but once there was not quite able to step on the gas and so ended up in third place. Dieter Köfler, the Alpenspan team rider, put in a strong performance on Glock’s Naba Uno. Köfler scored the best time but had one knock-down, which meant second place for him, as the ever highly successful Iris Murray of Upper Austria seized her opportunity with Qui Doo (offspring of Quidam’s Rubin) as last starter in the jump-off, calmly completing a clear round and thereby securing the final victory.

Competition 7: High-risk show jumping at M level

A high-risk M victory for Styria’s Barbara Belousek

Barbara Belousek, riding Espri d‘ E.T., took a big risk and it paid off. The Styrian completed the high-risk show jumping competition at level M with full points. In this show jumping competition riders completes a basic course where faults are counted in the usual manner, after which they may attempt a high-risk jump. Riders who clear the jump without a fault gain 15 extra points; otherwise 15 points are deducted from the rider’s score. Barbara Belousek managed this task perfectly and swiftly, claiming first place ahead of the up-and-coming talent from Upper Austria, Sabrina Pollhammer on Salaro, who also scored 15 points, but with a slower time (76.98). Christian Juza from Salzburg on Luidor 4 took third place with 11 points at 62.91 seconds.
