Markus Saurugg (AUT/St) brings victory in the Youngster Tour to Austria

There’s no one more eligible as the potential winner in young horse show jumping than he, a reputation more than justified for Austrian Markus Saurugg (St) today in GLOCK's Youngster Tour for seven and eight-year-old horses. During her seven years, his Holstein mare Zita 94 from Stakkato x Carthago has celebrated more wins than many another horse of a similarly young age. Again today, this elegant brown horse impressed onlookers at the two-phase jumping event over 1.40 m with her phenomenally controlled jumping style as well as her overall perception, and emerged as the clear number one with an error-free 26.42-second round.

So it was that the Austrian duo achieved a two-second lead over second-placed Finn Maiju Mallat and her correspondingly seven-year-old Celeste VIII (Up to Date x Indoctro) (28.32 seconds). Nor could Swiss old hand Paul Estermann and his eight-year-old Lord Pepsi, bred from Lord Pezi x Santander from Oldenburg stables, beat that best time: their 28.50 seconds nevertheless qualified for third place.

In particularly striking form was also the exquisitely handsome 7-year-old KWPN Wallach GLOCK's Charismatic Boy (Stakkato x Tangelo van de Zuudhoeve) under GLOCK Rider Robert Puck (AUT/K), their 29.14 seconds earning fifth place.
