Michael Duffy is the CSI3* Gaston GLOCK’s Champion

For the first time this weekend it was a matter of important World Ranking points for the show jumping riders in the CSI3* Gaston Glock’s Championat. Both the layout of the line and the dimensioning underlined the prestigious level of show jumping competition involved. The course over 1.50 m, extending over a length of 450 m, led over 13 obstacles including three double combinations.

Pulling off the trick of a much-coveted “double zero” was the reserve of 8 of the 15 duos who qualified for the jump-off. First to start was twice GLOCK’s Grand Prix winner Martin Fuchs (SUI) who, riding Fardon, set down a time of 43.81 seconds, ultimately coming fourth.

Finding the best mix of rhythm and tight turns in the CSI3* Gaston GLOCK’s Championat was 21-year-old Michael G Duffy from Ireland on the ten-year-old, Irish-bred stallion Lapuccino 2. The duo won by a margin of close to two seconds (0/40.81). Coming in second was the Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen, just 19 years young, who saddled up Celine M Z, daughter of Crusador, and crossed the line penalty-free in 42.63 seconds. In third place was a Belgian duo, namely Christophe Vanderhasselt and his Belgian warmblood Identity Vitseroel, who also achieved a jump-off under 43 seconds.

Michael G Duffy, having made his debut start at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER, was correspondingly delighted with his successful premiere. “I’m very pleased to have the chance to be here. A really lovely victory! Lapuccino will have a rest tomorrow and then, on Sunday in the Grand Prix, we’ll aim to give it all. I have two more horses here, which I’ll be taking to the start tomorrow.”, said Duffy following his win.
