Belgian double victory in the GLOCK’s Perfection Tour

The first of two world ranking show jumping events this Saturday at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER was firmly in the grasp of Belgian top riders. This two-phase competition over 1.45 m, with prize money totalling 25,000 euros, was exciting right till the end. Because the last to start, Constant van Paesschen (BEL), seemed like he might present quite a threat to his fellow countryman Wilm Vermeir who had led so long. But ultimately Constant, with eleven-year-old Holstein gelding Calore van de Helle, took a longer route to the finishing line, achieving second place in a penalty-free 37.33 seconds.

In contrast there was a little more risk-taking by Wilm Vermeir, riding his mare Hacienda d’Eversem, bred from Contact van de Heffinck, which was rewarded with victory in a time of 34.84 seconds. For him this was a bit of a repeat experience: “Last year I won precisely the same competition with Hacienda. She is very cautious and fast at the same time. I tried to cut the corners, but I was still surprised that it was enough for victory. We didn’t actually ride flat out”, said the winner with a grin.

Third place was occupied by the duo of Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof’s Bylou from the Netherlands. They finished the course in 37.55 seconds. Close behind were GLOCK’s Champions Ludwig and Ben Schröder (NED) in fourth place (0/38.19). Best Austrian was Gerfried Puck (St) in the saddle on Bionda 3 in fifth place (0/38.64).
