Bertram Allen wins the 5* Gaston Glock’s Championat

The first sporting highlight of the CSI5* International Show Jumping at the GLOCK HORSE PERFORMANCE CENTER came to fruition today in the form of the Gaston Glock’s Championat over 1.50 m, featuring prize money totalling 82,000 euros. Forty eight high-class participating duos announced they were ready to start in the first of five world ranking list jumping events this weekend. No fewer than 22 of them managed penalty-free rides in the first round, thus qualifying for the decisive second round. No wonder, given that among them were indeed Olympic winners, world and European champions with their top horses.

The only 20-year-old Irish superstar Bertram Allen left all of them behind. In the saddle of his both agile and careful Molly Malone V, daughter of Kannan, he veritably out-classed his competitors in 50.44 seconds with no penalties. "Today everything was just right. My horses are in top shape and conditions here are outstanding. I will be riding Molly in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix on Sunday too and do hope to be amongst the leaders again”, said Bertram in the winner’s interview.

Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) on the twelve-year-old Zangersheide stallion Casallo Z set off at a scorching pace, aiming for best time, but was beaten into second place at 51.47 seconds. Riding for the first time at the GHPC Austria, Frenchman Kevin Staut also attempted to beat Bertram Allen’s time. The world’s current number seven delivered a brilliant round with the BWP mare Elky van het Indihof HDC, coming third in 52.67 seconds.
