Dorothee Schneider wins the World Cup Freestyle presented by the Gaston & Kathrin Glock Family

International world-class dressage riders, grandstands almost completely sold-out and a wonderful atmosphere: this was the FEI World Cup™ Dressage presented by the Gaston & Kathrin Glock Family in Salzburg. In the context of the Mevisto Amadeus Horse Indoors, for the second time one stage of this top-class series took place in Austria. The best of the best were competing against each other and, in the end, it was current team Olympic winner Dorothee Schneider (GER), celebrating a glorious victory.

In the popular musical freestyle, the current number three in the world and her just ten-year-old Hanoverian horse Showtime FRH danced to world cup triumph accompanied by lively music from Queen. With 85.292 % all five judges unanimously voted the duo into first place. At the same time this was the best dressage result ever scored in Salzburg to date. With 92.780% for the artistic B-score, they were even aiming toward the highest score. After her triumph in the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Grand Prix, the likeable female-rider was also able to claim victory in the freestyle presented by Gaston and Kathrin Glock family. Dorothee Schneider was full of praise. She had enjoyed the hospitality of Salzburg several times before, but today it was her first world cup participation here: “ I always like coming to Salzburg. Conditions for riders and horses are ideal and the audience is simply fantastic. A big thank you also to the Gaston und Kathrin Glock family and all sponsors because, without them, an event like this would not be possible. All went very well for Showtime and myself, even if we felt a little pressure for this first performance since Rio. I am really happy because he tends to be a bit sensitive indoors. I didn’t know what to expect. That it went so well and we were able to continue our positive performance in Salzburg is simply great!”, said Dorothee at the press conference, during which there was also praise for the specially rented indoor arena on the site and the ‘GLOCK Stable Area’ with warm-up area.

Second-placed Spanish rider Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez was also enthusiastic after his first performance in Austria: “I have never been to Austria  and was really looking forward to coming to Salzburg. The fact that it went so well is of course an additional bonus.” His expressive chestnut gelding delighted both audience and judges and, when the duo approached the salute accompanied by “It's my Life”, they received thunderous applause and a score of 80.273 %.

Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, riding her stallion Unee BB bred from Gribaldi, took third place in this World Cup Freestyle with a score of 79.275 %. “Today we were semi-good”, she said with a wink. “No, it was very good. After a six-month break and a podium placing in the Gothenburg World Cup Final yesterday, we’ve come back with one of our best Grand Prix results. Today there were a few cheeky moves, so the fine-tuning wasn’t quite right. But I’m happy to be in the top three.”

The organiser, Josef Göllner from horsedeluxe Event GmbH, thanked the Gaston and Kathrin Glock family for having had the opportunity to bring the World Cup back to Austria once again. “Of course this is a very particular highlight for an organiser. Today I can only thank Gaston and Kathrin Glock because, without their sponsorship, it would not have been possible to carry the event through.”

In terms of overall results following the fourth stage, Kristy Oatley (AUS) leads with 44 points. Fabienne Lütkemeier (GER) is ranked second-equal with Marcela Krinke-Susmelj (SUI) (41 points).
