Vienna social market organisation receives generous donation

Founded by Alexander Schiel in 2008, the non-profit Vienna social market organisation has three shops in the city. People with a monthly income of less than €900 can buy everyday consumer goods here at very reasonable prices to cover their basic needs. Although it does not receive government funding of any kind, the Vienna social market plays a key role in helping these people to lead a life with dignity. Over 30,000 customers are currently registered. In recognition of the organisation’s work, Gaston and Kathrin Glock have pledged €100,000 to enable it to continue operating, expand the markets and extend their range.
