Carinthia in top form! Andrea Skorianz-Jenull wins the tough show jumping

The sports programme warmed up today at the Austrian championships at the Glock Horse Performance Center. The GHPC amateurs inaugurated the new course by Rothenberger during the opening L-level show jumping, bringing Carinthia a triple victory (Peintner, Esser, Bauer) to celebrate straight away.

The pros in the jumping saddle offered plenty of excitement in the standard jumping at M level, especially when four-time Salzburg champion Christian Juza, starting second to last, ultimately managed to beat Susanne Jurkovic of Lower Austria's best time. Anton Martin Bauer of Lower Austria guided his talented young horse Viper Van de Huize Ruisdael to first place in the young horse competition, scoring a win for Lower Austria. Carinthia's young star Andrea Skorianz-Jenull managed to beat her coach Dieter Köfler in the first hard show jumping event of these Austrian championships. Skorianz-Jenull earned first place ahead of Christian Schranz of Lower Austria and Simon Johann Zuchi of Styria, a great achievement. In combination with the overall results of the Carinthians, who took places one, six (Köfler), seven and eight (both Puck) in this show jumping event, this promises an excellent chance of winning the title in tomorrow's Austrian team championships.

Competition 3: Standard jumping at S* level.

Girl power in the S*! Andrea Skorianz-Jenull scores the second win for Carinthia

There were only five faultless rides in the first tough show jumping competition of this Austrian championship. Fresh, bold and masterful, Carinthia's young star Andrea Skorianz-Jenull on her Zweibrucken gelding whizzed across the S* course and towards victory. Even renowned pros like Christian Schranz of Lower Austria on Quartz van de Nieuwmolen (2nd place) and Simon Johann Zuchi of Styria on his Apollo von Pachern (3rd place) didn't stand a chance – close as the competition may have been. The results were brilliant for Carinthia, which took first (Skorianz-Jenull), sixth (Köfler) seventh and eighth (both Puck) places. The Carinthian team will be strongly formed heading into tomorrow's Austrian team championships.

"It wasn't planed like this, that I would end up ahead of my coach," Andrea Skorianz-Jenull said at the interview after her win, laughing modestly. "Dieter (Köfler) is simply fantastic and I am long way away from bettering him," the student of the local hero said humbly.

Competition 2: young horse competition 7-year-olds at LM level

Experience meets show jumping ability: Anton Martin Bauer on Viper van de Huize Ruizdael wins the young horse competition

He is considered one of Austria's most experienced riders, and today was not the only day his experience showed. Mounting his Belgian-raised horse Viper van de Huize Ruisdael, a son of Feliciano, Anton Martin Bauer of Lower Austria raked in 8.70 points to win first place. Iris Murray of Upper Austria received 8.40 points and second place with her Oldenburg gelding Qui Doo, a son of Quidam's Rubin. Larom von Pachern, a just six-year-old Oldenburg stallion, shone in third place under the Styrian Simon Johann Zuchi with 8.00 points.

"You just can't top this. This competition is a success from the moment you walk through the stables and see that the horses all have non-slip rubber mats under their litter," Anton Martin Bauer said at the victory ceremony. "We riders are also incredibly well provided for, I can only say thank you in the name of everyone here!"

Competition 1: standard jumping at M level

Christian Juza on Luidor 4 comes from behind in the standard M

As the penultimate starter, Christian Juza took the standard M course at a gallop and secured victory on Luidor 4 with a cracking time of 64.62 seconds. The multiple Salzburg champion's time was unbelievable, since all the other riders had failed to match the 66.72 seconds which Lower Austrian Susanne Jurkovic had scored with Edison 5. Lower Austria had a threefold success in the upper rankings with Anton Martin Bauer in third place on Confetti 2 and Christian Schranz in fourth place on Whisper von Lichten.

"Almost everything is unique here," Christian Juza said happily in his interview with Dorian Steidl after winning. "The endowment for the championship, the heavenly conditions with the new course and the gorgeous flower decoration. All of this is impressive, and of course the catering is the very finest. A big thank you to the organisers!"

Competition 12: GHPC Amateur Tour – standard jumping at L level

Opening with a triple victory for Carinthia in the GHPC Amateur Tour

It was faster than fast! Birgit Paintner of Carinthia approached the first jump of the GHPC Amateur Tour at a tearing pace. Her Zangersheide gelding Cazzano Z took the nine Rothenberger obstacles like she was flying and no one managed to top the time of 59.85 seconds. Long-time lead Alexander Esser of Carinthia on Zaubermaus 4 came up short and had to accept second place. Andreas Bauer of Carinthia was pleased with his third-place round on Lando 281, which completed Carinthia's triple victory.
