Wednesday, 18 October 2023 Rest in peace Fritsie!

Farewell to GLOCK's Undercover

It was a gentle farewell on the evening of September 26, in the company of your loved ones, who accompanied you until your last breath. It has taken us some time and we had to slowly get used to your absence. We loved you from the first moment and considered you a treasure until your last breath. Now you live on in our memory.

You turned 22 this year on May 28th and it seems to us as if it was only yesterday that we saw you for the first time. Lacquer black, a son of Ferro. So proud, full of drive and strength, with the will to always give your best.

In 2012 we wore the GLOCK emblem on jackets and saddle pads for the first time and Fritsie was our first GLOCK horse to be bought and entrusted to us. He was still effectively wet behind those always well-pointed ears at the time, but well trained and with an incredible amount of potential and so much talent for passage and piaffe.

In April 2012, Edward made his international debut with GLOCK's Undercover and by July they were off to the London Olympics. Fritsie was as tense as a bowstring but still ready to give his best. Edward and Fritsie finished eleventh in the Grand Prix, tenth in the Grand Prix Special, ninth in the Freestyle with the new freestyle "Secretum Revelatum" by Joost Peters and were able to celebrate the bronze medal with the Dutch team. What a success story after such a short time together! A success that we humans measure in placings and medals. A success that Edward measured in Fritsie's trust towards him, and that was boundless.

So many wonderful moments followed with GLOCK's Undercover. The victories in our second home, the Glock Horse Performance Center Austria, the victories in 's-Hertogenbosch and Odense, silver and twice bronze at the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, Lyon and Gothenburg, team gold and silver at the European Championships in Aachen and Herning, the victories at Nations Cups and National Championships. So many beautiful rounds of honor, musical freestyle, joint trainings, country rides and gentle walks. But at the shows Fritsie was more and more stressed. After Aachen 2015, we therefore took a break and it was not until April 2016 that Edward rode Fritsie again internationally. But there he felt again that Fritsie was stressed and so what would be the point of those potential successes if the horse with which one has such a close bond is no longer relaxed and happy at tournaments?

We decided shortly after in May 2016 for your life to continue free of competition. Instead, meadows with fragrant grass for you and a life without horseshoes. For a quiet farewell from the international arena, where you shone, and against a farewell in honor, which would indeed have been beautiful for people but continued pure stress for you.

You loved your new life, which you led since May 2016 with us at the Glock Horse Performance Center Netherlands. In the sun, in the wind, in the freshly blooming or well-grown meadows, in the leaves of fall or in the fresh snow with a thick winter coat. Together with your friends: Tony (the pony), Nadine and Next One.
Farewell, dear friend. You were a personality, a friend and companion. It was a privilege to have you in our lives and working with you was very special. In our memory you live on. Because you were a part of us and will remain so.

Edward & the whole team of the Glock Horse Performance Center
