GLOCK rider Robert Puck pulls it off - first win for Carinthia in the Silver Tour

In what was a really close finish over the final fences, Carinthia’s Robert Puck was rewarded with thundering applause. He put in a terrific performance to post the best time with his only eight-year-old grey mare GLOCK’s Ambellina Jb in the 1.35 m class of the Silver Tour. Wout-Jan van der Schans, the highly successful Dutchman in international events, had led for a long time with his ten-year-old stallion Quincy but after Robert Puck’s outstanding round he had to be content with runner-up position. Third place also went to the Netherlands, as KM Carrera ridden by the team silver medal winner in London, Jur Vrieling, jumped the course effortlessly and made it onto the podium.

The second best Austrian in this class only qualified for the event just before the closing date: Wolfgang Ötschmaier (Upper Austria) secured one of the last hotly contested places and showed his gratitude with a smooth round and tenth spot on For Me. National hero Hugo Simon (Styria) was as masterful as ever and took 17th with a clear round, showing how relaxed he was riding newcomer Freddy 7.

Robert Puck positively beamed about his win: “I would like to thank the Glocks very much for letting me ride such amazing horses. And then to win at home, what more could I ask for?” For the many local spectators the start of the jumping competition was definitely to their liking: a Carinthian in the saddle at an international event in Carinthia and then a GLOCK horse under the saddle! The atmosphere at the prize giving was equally good when GHPC director Kathrin Glock together with The Overtones did the honours. The famous boy band will also be rocking the GLOCK Riders Lounge tonight.
