Hat trick for Candin in Amateur Tour - Binder runner up

She was simply in a class of her own this weekend - just like her father Andy who was always fast round the course, the young Romanian Lisa Candin caused quite a sensation. Riding her experienced mare Remember Z, she again left her rivals far behind today and won all three competitions in the Amateur Tour. She did not give the other 15 competitors who had also produced clear first rounds a chance in the jump-off either and galloped over the finishing line determinedly as always in 31.04 seconds. “I’m just so happy,” she said smiling and stroking her cool Zangersheide mare’s neck.

Hot on her heels was the best-placed Austrian Franziska Binder (Carinthia) aboard Laetizia who would have only needed 64 hundredths (31.88) to win. Third spot also remained in Austrian hands thanks to Styrian Anita Kribernegg-Heusserer and her Cimet 2 (33.55). Carinthia’s Birgit Peintner would easily have had the winning time with her Cazzano Z and 29.16 seconds, but in the final spurt over the last oxer a pole fell down, leaving her to settle for fourth.

Katharina Leitsberger (Carinthia) on Michael, Silvana Florian (Styria) on Revolution, Lisa Strauss (Carinthia) on Zie Zoo B, Jenny Fehleisen (Styria) on Silver Flow, Gudrun Pirker (Styria) on Alpenspan Citadelle, Nika Kulmitzer (Carinthia) on Laptop V and Sandra Köfler (Carinthia) on Chaquino were the other Austrians in the final.
