Netherlands on top: Jur Vrieling wins

Designed by Frank Rothenberger, the 1.30 m course for today’s opening jumping in GLOCK’s Youngster Tour proved challenging for the seven and eight-year-old horses. The 32 riders and their young mounts had to contend with 12 obstacles and 13 jumps here.

Correndo, the seven-year-old Holstein progeny of Corrado I, came to grips with the course best thanks to his rider Jur Vrieling (NED). As the elegant grey jumped exceedingly well and was very agile, Jur Vrieling managed to follow third place in the CSI3* opening jumping in the afternoon with a win in the Youngster Tour (0/57.29).

Max Kühner (GER), the runner-up in this competition, would appear to be blessed with good luck at GLOCK events. Last year he won Gaston Glock’s Championat in Salzburg, while today he secured second place on seven-year-old Zangersheide mare Electric Touch, sired by Untouchable, with a clear round in a time of 59.91 seconds.

The third-placed pair was from Austria. Salzburg’s former European Championship competitor and Austrian Champion Jürgen Krackow produced a fast round with his eight-year-old Boulahrouz von Sydney in 60.55 seconds to finish third on the podium.

Large-framed chestnut gelding Bonaparte 7 ridden by multiple Austrian Champion and Olympic competitor Anton Martin Bauer (Lower Austria) also went flat out. The eight-year-old KWPN gelding had an excellent clear round and 67.21 seconds meant seventh place in the end. GLOCK rider Robert Puck (Carinthia) also easily made it into the placings with seven-year-old Stakkato progeny GLOCK’s Charismatic Boy. Clocking up a clear round in 73.02 seconds, he was pleased with tenth place.
