GLOCK riders impress in Amsterdam’s World Cup

Amsterdam played host to the sixth of eight rounds in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage from 17 to 20 January and the starting field once again featured stars from all over the world. Our two GLOCK riders Edward Gal and Hans Peter Minderhoud had every reason to be happy with GLOCK’s Romanov (Edward) and GLOCK’s Tango, as they finished up among the leaders.

On Friday Edward Gal and GLOCK’s Romanov charmed the judges in the Grand Prix de Dressage. “Sometimes he’s still a little distracted since he always wants to see everything and we still need to work on a few things, but I’m very pleased because I can feel that he wants to give his best, and as far as I’m concerned that’s the basis for a successful partnership,” said Edward in the FEI interview after the Grand Prix where the GLOCK pair secured an impressive third place with 74.894%. Hans Peter Minderhoud rode the 13-year-old GLOCK’s Tango and appeared happy with his 72.468% and seventh spot: “I can’t say I’m over the moon, but I’m pleased. Warming up was quite difficult because the two stallions see each other as rivals not friends.”

On Saturday it was then time for the Freestyle. Hans Peter Minderhoud and GLOCK’s Tango finished theirs on 76.225% to put them in seventh place as on the day before. Although Edward Gal was suffering from flu, he and GLOCK’s Romanov were awarded 79.200%, which meant fifth slot and thirteen points for the World Cup. This moved the GLOCK rider up from fifth in the overall standings to the excellent second place behind Valentina Truppa (ITA). As the best nine in the Western Europe League go through to the final in Gothenburg at the end of April, Edward will be there!
